Genetic provenance for the Maori heads from the former collections of the Musee de l’Homme

For the scientific colloquium held at the MNHN around the restitution of the french collections of Maorie Heads to New Zealand, my colleague Phillip Endicott and I give a short report conference avoub our molecular study of the collection of the maori heads to be restituted to Te Papa Museum.

We make a French/English conference where I deal with the French part. Time is 15:15 to 15:45 and the set of conferences takes place at the “Auditorium de la Grande Galerie”, MNHN (Paris).

TV news, France 2 20H

Today, I was interviewed for a report in the French national TV news (France 2, journal de 20H) about thepossibility of ressurecting ancient life forms like the mammoth.
Difficult to go through the issue in 3′, so that in the end, through the cuts, I manage to say that we can’t do it and it won’t be possible (to clone actually…) and that it will probably be done in the next 15 years… TV editing is always lots of fun.

Gaël, Marc and I have been pretty busy talking with SAIAB and Isimangaliso Reserve about our current project on coelacanths. That offered us a nice trip in South African lands.
